Housetraining your pet dog can be easy if you know your dog’s natural instincts and tendencies. All dogs develop a habit on the places where they like to eliminate. For example, dogs that like to eliminate on the dirt would rather not eliminate on concrete ground. If you know your dog’s natural tendencies, you can easily housetrain your dog in a short period of time.

The best age to start house training your puppy is when she is eight or nine weeks old. Dog crate can be used to housetrain your puppy. If you are housetraining an older dog, using a dog crate is not recommended. The dog crate should be large enough for the puppy to stand and move around in it. The dog crate will serve as a place where your puppy can play and sleep. You should never lock your puppy inside the crate for more than three hours.

Dogs will never eliminate themselves in their sleeping areas unless you locked them for more than they are able to hold it. When your puppy whines to be let out, you must quickly lead her outside to the elimination spot.

When you lead your pet dog out to eliminate, always use the same door so that you’ll know when she scratch on the door to tell you her need to go out.

You can train your pet dog to eliminate in a specific area in the yard by putting your dog on leash and going to the same area in the yard every time. This will help to keep your yard cleaner and prevent you from stepping on her poo.

After your pet dog had relieved herself, praise her verbally and give her a pat. Do not leave your dog outside for the whole day because you may confuse her with the housetraining process.

During the first few days, put your puppy inside a dog crate. Give her a toy to chew on so that she will associate the crate with pleasant experience. After your puppy has been inside the crate for about one hour, take her out to eliminate. Practice the same routine two to three times every day.

Before you put your puppy back into the crate, make sure her bowel is already emptied. Depend on the dogs’ age, they can hold their bladder for several hours.

When you want to leave the house, do not tell your dog,” Goodbye”. Just leave the house. When you come home, don’t call out your dog in an excited voice. You should behave as if to tell your dog there is nothing to it.

You should take your dog out to eliminate regularly as frequently as you can. You should take your dog out every morning, after each meal, and before bedtime.
