It is very easy to fall in love with an animal- especially when it is small, cuddly and playful. Pocket pets are often considered good starter pets for children .As cute as they are, and as much as you want to cuddle them, you should use some care when you handle your pocket pets. They should be approached slowly and never startled, as they can nip when frightened. If your pet is asleep, wake him gently and let him orient himself for a few seconds before you pick him up.

Mice, hamsters, and gerbils are some of the pocket pets. Guinea pigs, rats, and ferrets are some examples of pet animals that not exactly pocket pets but are small pets. All these pets require a large spacious room so that they can run in the whole space. All these pocket pets need different type of nutrients in their diets. For example Rabbits require special attention to the fiber in their diet. Fresh and clean water should be made available to them throughout the day.

We all know how important it is to take of the infants. Their demands are entirely different from that of the grown ups and their learning capability is enhanced at that stage. They are also vulnerable to hosts of diseases and that they should be proper vaccinated from all sorts of diseases. Now animal infants are not much different than us. They are vulnerable to diseases and sometimes there is the source of threat. Hence it becomes imperative that we take appropriate care of them when they are young.

Let’s start with puppies. Puppies should be given timely food and it should be rich in protein because it helps in growth. Immunizations, worming and vaccination have to be done so that they don’t contract any disease. Frequent check ups are needed to make sure everything is going fine. And the most important thing is that they should be taught early in life. Since they are young and have an impressionable mind, they learn quickly and retain most part of it.

Ever see a pirate without a pet bird? The image is so trenched in our minds that we cannot think of a pirate without a bird. Why is that? It’s because birds share a lifelong relationship with their owner. The moment you take in a bird be prepared for some mess, noise and of course friendship.

Birds like all pets require care and attention. They need to be exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun. Theses ultraviolet rays help them in absorption of calcium without which they will start loosing muscle tone and bones. The sunlight coming window is inadequate and hence you may to have to take t out in the sun during a sunny day simultaneously making sure that it is safe from the neighborhood cats and dogs. If the day is too hot then create a shaded area in the cage by placing a cloth above the cage so that bird can retire in the cooler area when it feels too hot in the sun

Giving up Your Pet

This information is an eye opener of sorts. We all love our pets but sometimes situations are so averse that we cannot take care of our pet and have to give it away. This article deals with what to do in such situation.

Now if you are giving your pet for free there would be lots of applicants, some serious and some with the sole aim of making money out of your pet. This may sound ridiculous but the sad thing is that it’s true. Some people are interested in your pet so that they can make money out of it. Say in case of dog they may be used to fight in a dog ring. The charlatan knows what to say and how to say to fool you because they have been doing this for a long time now. The best way to recognize a charlatan is by charging a nominal fee of around $30-$40 from the interested applicant.

Granted that asking for money does not seem the right thing to do but look at it this way. But this is the only way that you can be assured that your pet is in safe hands. Say for example, in case of dog, grooming, worming and a trip to vet cost you around $100 and if the interested party cannot even pay a nominal sum of around $30 how do you expect him to take care of your pet when you are not there. If he is genuinely interested then obviously he will understand that asking for $30 is not wrong as before adoption pets have to take shots and this alone cost $50.

Charging money for the pet is not the way to make money out of your pet but it is the way to make sure that your pet remains in safe hands.
