You have been living happily with your for years now. You were like best friends but now it’s not the same. Your dog is behaving strangely and you have no idea why is that? Sometimes it would wake up in the night and start barking or will remain aloof during the day? Suddenly it has started eating more than it usually does. If you are noting these phenomena then it might mean that your dog is suffering from anxiety attacks.
What are anxiety attacks? What are the symptoms? And what might be the possible causes?
Anxiety attacks may occur due to a number of reasons. Foremost among them is the separation. Since you and dog have been friends for quite some time now sometimes the dog feels anxiety if you stay away for long time. And if your work time is erratic and demanding then may it’s the separation that is giving your dog creeps. Other possible causes include noise. If the environment becomes noisy for a stretched period of tome some dogs start behaving erratically. Dogs are like humans in many respects. They are a social animal and if they cannot socialize and stay aloof for an extended period of time it might also result in anxiety attacks.
The symptoms include sleeplessness, over eating, shaking, erratic behavior and excessive drollness. One or more of the above mentioned symptoms may be manifested by your dog.
Now knowing that you are his friend nothing can alleviate his fear better than you can. If you really understand your dog well, you may be able to find the exact cause of his anxiety attacks and cure .In case you cannot pin point the exact nature of the problem then in that case you will have no option but to approach a vet for the purpose.
